Sidewalk Repair Project Not Sunk!
All 96 repair locations were marked by the HOA and the City of Richland approved their portion of the money for the repairs. The City then took over the project and sent the work out to bid for contactors. Unfortunately they received little response and
the bids were much too high to consider moving forward. The City rolled up their sleeves and regrouped to restructure the bid to get more reasonable prices. The results of the 2nd bid were again too high to consider and the outcome for the project to be completed in 2012 was in serious jeopardy.

The City has agreed to add the project to their in-house maintenance staff’s workload. They are confident that all the sidewalks can be fixed by the end of March, 2013 and within the budget approved. Manager Jeff Peters will work with the HOA and oversee the work by the street crews. This is good news but Applewood homeowners will no longer be offered a reduced price for private concrete work from a contractor. The HOA has already reimbursed past homeowner-initiated repairs and only received one ACC application for other repairs.
