Blowing Grass Clipping: In the street or back in the yard?
Posted on Sep 29th, 2020
The HOA would like homeowners and contractors to blow grass clippings back into their yard. We think it's good for the grass and the neighborly thing to do. Here are three important reasons not to blow grass into the street:
- Road Looks Bad - part of making a lawn and the community look its best is not blowing grass into the road.
- Risky from a Liability Standpoint - grass on the roadway can be like black ice to a bicyclist or motorbike.
- Grass Moves On - grass will eventually end up in a neighbor's lawn or in the City storm drain. This can cause Applewood's storm drains to work slower during heavy rains.
Did you know there are 4,000 storm drains throughout the City? We found this neat 4:11 minute video of City employee Nate Saunders giving a tour of a storm drain vacuum truck and tips to keep our storm drains good shape! We hope you enjoy it.
