Smoke Alarm Tips - Most fatal fires occur at night so taking the time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarm is one of the best ways to alert those in your household should a fire occur.

1. Don’t paint over smoke alarms
2. Practice family fire drills so everyone knows what to do if the smoke alarm goes off
3. Regularly vacuum or dust smoke alarms to keep them working properly
4. Replace batteries in all smoke alarms twice a year (when you change your clocks for daylight savings time)
5. Replace smoke alarms every 10 years
6. Test smoke alarms monthly
