Applewood Estates development is now 16-years-old and you would never guess it by looking at it. Curb appeal really does make a difference! However, this means most of our smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in our homes are the same age. We should always check the batteries every year, but did you know most smoke alarms have a lifespan of eight to 10 years and carbon monoxide detectors last between five and seven years. For some homeowners it could be a DIY project, but Board Member Ray Pope had them replaced by electrical contractor, Raines Electric. They replace his 6 existing smoke alarms with 5 new smoke alarms and 1 new combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarm.
