RV and Boat Parking - Explained
Posted on Aug 18th, 2016
Applewood Homeowners,
Summer is in full swing and your HOA hopes you have been enjoying it!
During the summer, homeowners use their RVs and boats more often and over the past week, your HOA has received questions regarding them with regard to parking. You can find the CC&Rs on the website by clicking HERE and vehicle restrictions can be found under Section 5, Letter V.
Here are answers to many questions regarding this CC&R:
Q. Can I store an inoperative vehicle at or on my property?
A. No, the CC&R does not allow abandoned or inoperative vehicles to be stored on any lot.
Q. Can I park my RV or boat in my driveway or in front of my home for a short time?
A. No, all recreational vehicles such as RVs and boats can not be parked in a "front driveway" or on the street anytime. However, the HOA knows that from time to time, homeowners will need to have them parked at those locations for loading/unloading, maintenance or family visits. A homeowner can contact the HOA and request a variance to the CC&R. The HOA is very open to these requests.
Q. Can I park my work vehicle at my home?
A. Yes, work vehicles must be the size of a sedan or standard pickup truck. It also has to be used for both business and personal use and must not have any signs or markings of a commercial nature that are obtrusive and/or offensive. Due to liability issues, the HOA also does not allow these vehicles to have any equipment that may pose a safety hazard.
Q. Can I park my vehicle or approved work vehicle in my driveway or street?
A. Yes, you may park approved vehicles in the driveway for any length of time. You may also park approved vehicles on the street but they are limited to no more than 72-hours. Also, know that periodic movement of such a vehicle parked on the street is not a defense in avoiding the 72-hour rule.
The goal of the HOA is to comply with the CC&Rs while working with homeowners for the best desired outcome. Another goal is to try and limit parking on the street for curb appeal and crime prevention reasons. If you have any questions regarding this or any other CC&R, feel free to email back or contact ACC Chairperson Bernie Beldin at grandflic@gmail.com or 509-713-3289.
As always, we are all in this together so thank you all for working so hard in keeping our home values high and making Applewood Estates the best it can be!
