Mosquito Alert!
Posted on Aug 18th, 2009

Applewood Estates was informed by Cherrywood Estates HOA President that they have been experiencing an excessive numbers of mosquitoes in their neighborhood this summer. The City informed Cherrywood that they have come out and sprayed the area and have taken samples of mosquitoes for testing. Unfortunately, the results have come back that mosquitoes in the wetlands adjacent to Cherrywood have tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

Applewood has not confirmed this with the City but we urge all Applewood homeowners to take extra precautions to not have your doors and windows open in the evening, not be outside without proper repellent on, and those of us with swimming pools should reconsider our swim times. For more information on the West Nile Virus and protection, you may visit the website of Benton County Mosquito Control. They will be scheduling additional spray applications in the late evenings to address the problem.
