Last Week for Green Yard Waste Cans
Posted on Oct 26th, 2015
This is the last week for the green yard waste cans.
However, the City's annual Fall Cleanup is expanding to provide homeowners with better curbside collection. In addition to picking up bagged and bundled organics, City crews will be picking up extra bags of garbage and small items at the curb.

The annual Fall Cleanup will begin on November 2nd and run each week through the end of December.
In an effort to provide timely service, the City is asking homeowners to let them know when garbage and yard waste is ready for pick up. Pickups will occur on your next regular scheduled day (except holidays), after requesting the pickup.
This service is free and you can schedule a pickup by clicking HERE. If you don't have access to the website, you can leave a phone message on their Fall Cleanup hotline at 942-7387.
Here are some FAQ's you may have for the program:
- How many times may I request curbside pickup? Once each week in November and December.
- Can I still put out my green yard waste can? No, the last week for service on the green yard waste cans will be the week of October 26th. Homeowners that have yard waste after that week should bag or bundle the yard waste and request a pickup using their online or phone message request line.
- What items cannot be picked up at the curb? The following items will not be picked up at the curb: paints, chemicals or other hazardous waste, large appliances, tires, furniture or bulky items larger than 2' x 4' or weighing more than 50 pounds, dry wall or other construction or demolition debris, rocks, bricks, dirt or concrete.
- Do I have to bundle branches and limbs? Yes. Tie branches, limbs and large sticks in bundles no longer than 4 feet in length. Individual branches should not be more than 4 inches in diameter. Larger branches and tree trunks can be taken to the landfill. Homeowners with proof of garbage service, get unlimited free yard waste dumps at the landfill year round!
- What if my regular garbage day falls on a holiday? They will pick up your fall cleanup items the next business day. Their regular garbage routes will still run on all holidays except for Christmas Day but the truck that picks up fall clean up will not run on holidays.
So, even though the green cans will be done after this week, you can still call the city for picking up extra bags of garbage, yard waste and small items.
We hope this helps and Happy Halloween!
