Further Restrictions for KID Customers
Posted on Jul 8th, 2015

We wanted to notify homeowners that the Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) has advised the Yakima River is at historically low levels. This along with consistently high temperatures has resulted in further reductions to water being delivered to KID.

Effective immediately, customers are required to limit watering to 20 minutes, per zone, for two days per week according to your watering schedule.

The District will continue to allow hand watering, micro-spray, and soaker hoses, and drip lines at will for trees, shrubs perennials and gardens.  Their system does not operate at a high enough level to pull water from the canals at the same rate as underground sprinkler systems.

KID will keep the HOA informed of changes as they become aware of them and it is impossible to predict Mother Nature and Yakima River water flows.  The current outlook is poor and further reductions will likely become necessary.  Cooperation by all homeowners is critical to allow equitable distribution of the limited water available.

I believe that when adversity strikes, that's when we have to be the most calm.  Our lawns will gain strength by overcoming this and next summer they will be stronger and more beautiful.
