“Good Fences Make Good Neighbors”
Action Request

Dear Applewood Homeowners,

One goal of your homeowners association is to promote positive neighborhood appearance and pride in our community development.  Over the years, some of our wonderful wood fences have become weathered.  Protecting your fence keeps the natural oils and acids in the wood that make it undesirable to most insects.  It also keeps the wood from warping and falling apart.

The HOA wants to help prevent fence damage and improve neighborhood curb appeal at the same time.  Curb appeal is the impression your home's exterior conveys to the casual observer from the street.  Your home’s exterior creates an emotional desire to own a home in Applewood Estates and to live the lifestyle it represents.  Maintaining our home’s curb appeal is one of the safest investments we can all make.

The HOA has identified 90 homes having a wood fences that are visible from the street and we are asking for your help.  Please inspect your wood fence, make any appropriate repairs, and please consider applying either a sealant on new fences or an earth-tone color stain on older fences.  There are some new products that make staining fences easy.  The internet has some great ideas and you can always contact a local home improvement store or an area contractor for more details.

Our property values are directly related to how the community looks so we are all in this together!  The steps that the HOA takes to help ensure our homes look attractive and inviting are definitely worth the effort but we do need your help.  If you have recently improved your fence’s look last year or this spring, we want to thank you.  There are so many of you who do keep your wood fence looking great!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact your HOA or any member of the Architectural Committee member at any time.
